Cooking
24 August, 2007 23:26I am moving into an apartment this year and one of my main reasons for doing so was the ability to have my own kitchen. I cook a great deal at home, with the full resources of my parents’ kitchen. Having my own motley collection of kitchen tools and not-so-lavish budget, as well as needing 28 hours in the day as it is, should prove a good experiment. I’d also like to share it, so keep your eyes open.
In the meantime, I’ve been getting ready. For the last few weeks I’ve been raiding my Mom’s cook books and copying down some of my favorites. I’ve also stumbled across a few interesting-looking pages on the ‘net. First the New York Times had a story about quick-and-easy meals, and then they accepted user contributions as well. (Unfortunately the first link requires a subscription or other access to the Times‘ archive.) Then I came across this blog whose photographs alone are worth a visit. I’ve also packed up my contributions to the apartment kitchen, which are going to go ahead in the car of one of my roommates. And I’ve picked out a food processor that I’m going to buy on Amazon with an old gift certificate, so that I can make and store lots of pesto before winter sets in. Kind of like a Genoese chipmunk.
